Ellie and Kevin got married on a gorgeous summer day. The celebration was intimate and timeless, exceeding all my expectations. I’ve known Ellie since my childhood, so it was beyond exciting to help make her wedding dreams come to life. Here’s a little piece of the magic I’d like to share with you:

From our earliest meetings, Ellie’s vision of her Chuppa was clear. She wanted a tall, romantically draped Chuppa with symmetrical florals and draping greens. The design was slightly different from our typical Chuppas but my friends at POMP Parties were the perfect partners to bring this vision to life. Beth, from POMP, and I met several months ahead to find the ideal draping, with a mix of soft ivory and blush drapery.  The POMP team arrived early to execute the perfect vision - and my Creative Team got to work designing the florals.  Two symmetrical floral pieces adorned the sides of the Chuppa with romantic Southern Smilax following the lines of the drapery.

The Chuppa represents the home that the newly married couple will build together - with sides open symbolizing their welcoming and hospitable home.  One thing that stood out to me in these photos was how much this Chuppa looked like an entirely different world.  Like a true home that Ellie & Kevin were stepping into.

The wedding palette was a mix of white and ivory florals with a subtle hint of nudes. The best part of the Bridal Bouquet was the organic, delicate florals we found at our local flower farm. I love leaving a little extra in my budget to pick up these unique, locally grown elements to elevate the Bridal Bouquet.

This Bridal Bouquet recipe includes Roses, Garden Roses, Scabiosa, Orlaya, Rice Flower, Phlox, Anemones (with green centers), and touches of Southern Smilax.

One element I wish I could have added to this Bridal Bouquet? Lace Hydrangeas, but since they aren’t around until later in the season I tried recreating their texture and feel with a combination of some of the more delicate, organic florals listed above.

Bridal Bouquets are one of my favorite elements to design, but they're also one of the most nerve-wracking because I’m an absolute perfectionist when it comes to creating them. Sometimes, it takes me four or five tries before I’m finally happy with the design. Every stem is carefully and purposefully positioned - the recipe having been delicately crafted weeks or months before.
